Rio Perdido
Located along a dwarf forest on a raised peninsula, Rio Perdido sits within a beautiful forest of uniquely native trees that boast canopy heights upwards of 160 feet. These two very diverse ecosystems were the inspiration between the sustainability theme that runs through the entire hotel.
Because of its location, there is no shortage of wildlife and exotic fauna. Rio Perdido is translated as “Lost River” – named so because the trees growing within these canyons dwarf trees on the parched soil above. The canopies are so tall that when foliage is dense and green, the serpentine canyon practically disappears from view. The reserve offers everything travelers could possibly dream of – from the signature thermal river to hiking, white water tubing, mountain biking and zip-lining. Those craving a more relaxed experience can visit the spa, soak in one of many hot springs or enjoy a yoga session on the platform.
Rooms: All bungalows offer two twin beds or a king size bed, additional trundle, day sofa, coffee maker, mini bar, TV, hair dryer, iron, internet, AC, telephone, safe, cribs upon request. 2 handicapped accessible rooms are available.
Highlites: The centerpiece of the 600-acre private reserve is the Rio Perdido with its thermo-mineral gorge that draws energy from deep magma flows. Along the riverbed are 8 registered springs that are mixed with healing spring water. Their varying temperatures are ideal for prolonged bathing and boast restorative healing effects.
