Set in a private nature reserve spread over 1,000 acres of Central America’s last remaining lowland tropical rainforest in Costa Rica’s wild Osa Peninsula, Lapa Rios Lodge is a founding member of the National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World. This simultaneously rustic and luxurious Lodge is a pioneer in sustainable tourism.

Nature lovers, birders, couples and families with children over 6 will enjoy unforgettable rainforest and wildlife adventures at Lapa Rios. Guided on-site activities include a “Wild Waterfall” hike, local medicine tour, day and night rainforest walks and a plant-a-tree experience.

Lapa Rios protects over 1000 acres of Central America’s last remaining lowland tropical rainforest and also runs a Plant-a-Tree reforestation program. A small on-site pig farm produces biogas for the staff kitchen and the edible garden produces herbs and greens.

Rooms: 17 secluded rainforest bungalows feature large ceiling fans, king bed or 2 queen beds, spacious indoor bathroom with two showers, waffle cotton bathrobes, organic toiletries, private outdoor deck with rain shower, hammock and lounge chairs, daily morning housekeeping service and evening turndown, and laptop-sized safe.
