 Manuel Antonio National Park is the smallest in Costa Rica’s park system. In spite of its size, its gorgeous beaches, exuberant tropical forest, ample wildlife, easy access and adventure opportunities make it one of the most popular.
Located high on the Continental Divide, Monteverde Preserve is a private rainforest bio-preserve protecting approximately 25,000 acres and 6 different life zones richly diverse with bird, butterfly, animal and plant species. Be sure to visit the Hummingbird Farm, where multitudes of these magical creatures come to feed. If you’re very still one might alight on your finger!
Along the Nicoya Peninsula signs of civilization yield to wild wind-swept beaches where nature nevertheless thrives. Unparalleled sea and shoreline vistas abound in this secluded area. The Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, home to white faced and howler monkeys and long-tailed coatis, is located on the tip of the peninsula.
The Osa Peninsula is home to the fabled Corcovado National Park. Occupying more than 100,000 acres of lowland tropical rainforest in the southern Pacific zone, Corcovado holds the largest remaining population of Scarlet Macaws in the country and offers the best opportunity for glimpsing tapir, jaguar and many other rare or endangered species. |
